Skoolcraft Music at CMJ?
October 21, 2009
Whats up people. We were initially slated to be at CMJ this week getting our network on and showcasing our talent, but things went south so we are putting all of our efforts into SXSW 2010 in Austin, TX. If you happen to be in NYC this week, put yourself in my shoes and visit some of the events I would’ve been attending…

Havana’s “Life: Living in Fearless Emotion” was released on 9/20/05. Because the label is small, we couldn’t get the release to everyone so its great to see people still catching on and leaving awesome reviews like this. DJ Come of Age from the UK just caught wind of Havana and left this video review on Amazon. Check it out.
R.I.P. J. Dilla
February 11, 2009
It’s been 3 years since James Yancey aka Jay Dee “Dilla” passed away from lupus. Dilla was and will forever be looked upon as the illest, most creative producer of our time. I remember when I first met Dilla outside of Maurice Malone’s shop in Detroit back in 94/95′ and again in 2000 when I got invited to the Slum Village – Raise It Up video shoot at Universal Studios in LA. We smoked one on the set and even though Dilla was getting his Hollywood on, you could just tell how genuine he was. His music plays a important part in my life as well as others worldwide. Wherever you are make sure you find a Dilla event to attend in your area this month and donate to MaDukes to assist with her lupus struggles and the unfinished business of the Dilla estate.

The New New
May 5, 2009

Havana has 2 upcoming performances you won’t want to miss. She will be performing in promotion of her 2nd album, “Entervention”, which was expected to drop earlier this year but has been pushed back to a late summer release. The album which features production by upcoming producers like The Honor Roll (Trackademicks, 1.0.a.k), Brook D’Leau (J*Davey), GB (Sound in Color) and Waajeed (PPP), celebrates the coming to grips of Havana’s tumultuous upbringing, using music to express her experiences and family issues, but never forgetting to have fun along the way.

May 19, 2009
Last week Havana had a impromptu performance at 330 Ritch in San Francisco for Sake One’s PST event. A few hundred people showed up and Havana rocked the set with Sake One, a live drummer and Trackademicks came thru on “Nitelife”. The “Entervention” album was pushed back to this summer, but will finally see the light of day this summer (August 25th). Check out the performance and link it on your sites, etc. Its time for Havana to really get that “Shine” she deserves…
